-= I. Introduction =-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

Hello and welcome to my complete Guild Recipe List for Final Fantasy XI. This
FAQ is strictly recipes currently, but will eventually turn into a complete FAQ
about guilds that will teach you much more about guilds that just the recipes.
In the next few sections you will find eight guilds from Final Fantasy XI.
Fishing is not included because there are no recipes involved in fishing. Each
set of recipes is split up by the skill level you need to be to synthesize each
item.

On the far left is the "Product". This is just what will be created if your
synthesizing goes well. Moving to the right, "Skills Needed" is next. These
are the skills that I recommend you have before creating this item. You can
still create an item if you don't have one of the skills, but the chances of
you failing will rise. Next is "Crystal Used". All Recipes require one
crystal. If you do not use the correct crystal you will not be able to craft
that item. Lastly is "Materials". Obviously, these are just the materials
that you will synthesize to make an item.

As I said before, I will update this FAQ within a month or two so that it gives
much more information on guilds other than just the recipes so stay tuned and
check on this guide every now and then to see if I've changed anything.
Alright! On to the recipes! Enjoy!

-= II. Crafting Basics =-

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

In Final Fantasy XI, crafting items can be an enjoyable and rather addicting
hobby. The one downside is that it costs quite a large amount of gil to begin
your crafting career. At the start, you will work hard and spend all of your
hard-earned gil and only move your skill up maybe 2 or 3 points. This may make
you want to give up on synthesizing altogether, but then you think about the
great benefits in the long run.

Yes, this is a very expensive hobby in the beginning, but as your skill level
increases you will be able to sell the items you create and start making some
profit, or at least break even. Read on to learn more about the basics of
crafting.

===============================================================================
----- How to Synthesize --------------------
===============================================================================

Alright, let's get right to it. If you are really interested in crafting you
will first need to choose a Guild to join. I suggest sticking with just one
for a while and work on getting your skill up. Check the section below this
one to learn about each of the guilds and where you can go to join them. I
suggest choosing a guild with a guild leader in your home country, that way you
won't find yourself running back and forth between countrys to buy supplies and
things.

Now that you have chosen a Guild to start out with you will probably want to
join the Guild. Talk to the master of your Guild to join. You can find out
where to find the master in the section below this one.

Remember, you don't have to be a member of the guild to raise your level, but
it does have it's benefits. For instance, you can talk to the guild leader and
he will improve your crafting for a short period of time.

By now you should be a member a guild. Now to the fun part. You can finally
start crafting!!! Scroll down to the recipe lists and find the guild you are
in. There are eight guilds altogether. Nine including the Fishing guild. You
will have to start off with recipes that are at the beginning of your guild's
recipe list. These recipes are the easiest and cheapest to do. Find the item
you will be crafting and check what crystal you will need. If you have a
fairly large amount of gil and are looking to spend most of it. Buy many of
these crystals. If you are short on gil you may want to stick with a single
stack of them.

Now go and gather the materials that you'll need. You can either buy them from
the Auction House or fight monsters that drop them. Once you have the crystals
and materials you can begin crafting.

- To Be Continued -

----- Guild Descriptions --------------------
===============================================================================

Black Smith
-----------

Black smiths tend to use Ore and metal materials in their synthesizing. A
black smith definitely isn't the cheapest guild, but you can make some items
that are used by many. As a black smith you will be creating weapons and
armors made out of metals. If you are planning on being a black smith you will
also want to consider raising your Carpentry, Gold Smithing, and Tanning skills
as they will be required to create many of your Black Smith items.

Gold Smith
----------

In Gold Smithing, you will mostly be using ore and metal materials to make
jewels, rings, necklaces, and earrings. This is one of the few guilds where
you won't really need any other crafting skills to make items. However, there
is also one drawback! Gold Smithing is said to be the most expensive guild in
the game, so I would suggest this guild to someone who already has a large
amount of gil to spend.

Weaver
------

The Weaver focuses on making cloth items; mostly robes and other items for
Mages and Monks. Materials you will be using are threads from cotton, grass,
and silk. I would have to rate this as one of the cheaper guilds although it
is still expensive. To be successful in the Weaving guild, a high level gold
smith skill is highly recommended.

Carpenter
---------

Carpenters will use wood in their crafting, of course! But what can they make
out of their wood? Well, there are many things to be crafted out of wood:
staffs used by mages, furniture, fishing poles. I haven't experimented much
in this guild so I can't say how costly it is, but I'm sure it's not cheap!
I do know that Boneworker and Black Smith skills could prove to be helpful in
your carpentry so keep that in mind.

Alchemist
---------

Alchemists use very strange ingredients, chemicals, and potions, to make
medicines, and potions for healing wounds after battle. But it doesn't stop
there! Alchemists can also make certain weapons. Other skills in other guilds
aren't required, but Carpentry, Black Smithing, and Gold Smithing skills will
help a lot in your crafting of bows, arrows, and bullet type synthesizing.

Bone Worker
-----------

In this guild, you will of course be using bones of different animals and
beasts found in Vana'diel in your synthesizing. Bone Workers usually make
earrings, rings, hairpins, and necklaces, but can also be found making shields,
weapons, and other pieces of armor! It would be to your advantage if you had
your Tanning skills up for crafting some of these items.

Tanner
------

You guessed it! Skins and leather materials are used in Tanning. You will
mostly be creating armors out of your skins and leather. Black Smith, Gold
Smith, and Weaving skills are a plus in this guild!

Culinarian
----------

Ah... The Culinarian. The Culinarian Guild is just a cool way of saying the
Cooking Guild. Culinarians will focus on putting together their ingredients to
make food that will greatly improve the performance of he/she who eats them.
They can also make some great baits for fishing! If you are looking for a
guild that you can level without needing any other skills from other guilds
this would be it!

Fishing
-------

The fishing guild is a guild that many people join just to have some fun in
between battles and on boat rides. You can choose from different rods and
bait to catch many varieties of fish. Fishing would be a nice guild to level
up if you are a culinarian because you can use the fish you catch in your
cooking. Find some more information on the Fishing guild in the "Fishing"
section.
