Section 3: Alchemy Equipment
=============================================================================

There are 4 types of equipment that are used in creating Alchemy potions.
(Descriptions are from the manual)
1: Mortar and Pestle - Required to mix a potion, and determines the initial potion strength.
2: Retort            - Increases the magnitude and duration of all positive effects in a potion.
3: Alembic           - Decreases the magnitude and duration of all negative effects in a potion.
4: Calcaiator        - Increases the magnitude and duration of all effects in a potion
Not: you only need the Mortar and pestle, the other items just increase the effectiveness of the potion.

There are also different levels of Quality of these items, they are:
1: Apprentice
2: Journeyman
3: Master
4: Grandmaster
5: SecretMaster (This is not in the game, but it is listed because it is in the Construction Set. If you want to add it to your game, then you will need to either make a mod, or use a console command.)

The higher the quality of the apparatus the more it effects the outcome of your potion.

The format for the Equipment is as follows:

Equipment Name
Wt=weight each   V=value each  Q=Quality

Note: The value listed is the base value, not what you will pay or sell for. Purchase and sell prices are set by a combination of your merchant skill and the Merchants disposition toward you.

Section 4: Frequently Asked Questions
=============================================================================

Q1- How do I make potions? I know I need the equipment, but I do no know how to use them.
A1- While in the inventory screen, drag the Mortar and Pestle from your inventory and drop it over your character portrait. This will bring up the alchemy menu. In this menu you can select any other equipment you want to use, along with the components you want to mix. To select the components click on one of the empty boxes and select a component, then repeat with the other empty boxes.

Q2- How do I make a vampire potion? Only Vampire dust has the vampirism effect.
A2- You can NOT become a vampire by a potion. You can NOT make a vampirism potion. To make a potion you need two components that have the same effect, and since there is only one component with the vampirism effect, you are unable to create the potion. There are a few other effects that have only one component associated as well; those include
Damage Fatigue, Damage Health, Damage Intelligence, Fortify Attack,
Weakness to Poison and Vampirism.

Q3- Why do I always fail to create potions?
A3- Your alchemy skill is probably low, you can use a trainer to raise it, of gain levels by just repeatedly making potions. There are merchants that have unlimited supplies of cheap components that can make a potion. Buy mass quantities of these, then mix away.

Q4- Why Can't I see all of the component effects?
A4- Again your skill level is too low, as you gain skill in alchemy you are able to see more of the effects. However, you really do not need to see them, as you are reading this guide which lists all of the effects anyway. You do not need to see the effect in the game for the potion to still work. But, If you really want to see the effects, here is a list of what level your alchemy skill must be to see each effect:
