0.   WANTED

I'm looking for:
- The seiyuu (voice actors) list of the [el] game.
- The seiyuu list of the [el] OVAs.

1.   ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Thanks to these sierra hotel persons/organisations:
- Jean-Luc Barbera of France, for the French translation of the Disclaimer, and the English translation of the NOIR foreword. (After all, Canada's official languages are English and French.)
- Take of Japan, for his detailed [el] solution on which this FAQ is based.

(Social democracy in action.)

No thanks to these lima delta persons/organisations:
- The EVIL terrorists responsible for the attacks in the USA in the morning on (Tuesday) 11 September 2001 (local time).
- Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda.

In memory of:
- The victims of the terrorist attacks in the USA in the morning on 11 September 2001. God bless America.

"Le noir, ce mot designe depuis une epoque lointaine le nom du destin.
"Les deux vierges regnent sur la mort.
"Les mains noires protegent la paix des nouveaux-nes."
- NOIR (2001)

2.   NUTRITION INFORMATION (Introduction)

Title:    [el]
(Japanese title: Eru)
Genre:    Sci-fi adventure
Rating:   Adult (Keep out of reach of children and parents)
Players:  1
OS:       Windows 95/98/2000 Professional/Millennium
Edition (Japanese version)
Maker:    elf http://www.elf-game.co.jp/html/special/el.html
On Sale:  29 September 2000

2.1  1ST IMPRESSION

The player can install [el] as one of three sizes: 300 MB, 420 MB, or
600 MB.
(IIRC, I chose 420 MB, but [el] squats on only 377 MB.)

The [el] male protagonist's name can be five characters long. Each character can be an alphabet, hiragana, kanji, katakana, number, or symbol.
Seems the player can't change the protagonist's default family name of
Takanaka.
(I'm not an "honmei play" player. That is, I don't play with my real name. In games where the other characters have hiragana or kanji names, I sometimes give a protagonist a katakana name, to easier spot his name in the message window. Because the other [el] characters have katakana names, I give the [el] protagonist a two-kanji name, Hayato. Not named after the protagonist of Shinseiki GPX Cyber Formula, but named after the protagonist of Sotsugyou Crossworld (for PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Windows). On second thought, I could've chosen Kyousuke, named after the protagonist of
Kimagure Orange Road.
On third thought, five characters are too short for the classical name
Hugh G Rection.)

Each scene in [el] is full-screen, not structurally divided into message windows and multiple-choice windows. Such windows, when present, superimpose onto the scene.
In a given scene, for instance, the first scene where the protagonist meets all his comrades, the other characters are all drawn into scene, not just superimposed onto a generic background illust. Also, the other characters blink and may change expressions depending on their dialogue.
The pointer changes appearance to represent different commands depending on what it's pointing. For instance, when it's on an item or person, the pointer is normally in Look/Investigate mode. When it's on a person's mouth, the pointer changes to Speak mode. When the player clicks the pointer, the protagonist looks at that item or person, or speaks with that person.
(Reminds me of (the ancient) Cobra Mission and Dragon Knight 4.) [el] is apparently full-voice. (^_^)
(Actually, the protagonist isn't voiced, except near the ending.) [el] has five save game slots. Each save game slot conveniently shows, at 1/4 screen size, the scene where the player saved that game.

After the player completes the game, the main menu has a third option, Omake Mode, which allows the player to replay BGMs, review event CG, and (non-interactively) replay Ecchi events.
(The main menu is the screen with the left half of
Elle's head and a nuked New York City.)

2.2  2ND IMPRESSION

As of 7 July 2001, my ranking of the [el] heroines whom my protagonist has met:
1.   Chris (21)
2.   Elle (21)
3.   Parsley (19)
4.   Linda (25)
5.   Natsuki (22)
6.   Reiko (24)
7.   Nurse Kana (20)

About the seiyuu of this elf game, some friends and I presume Koorogi Satomi must be somewhere in [el] again. (^_-)

The chara's English names in this FAQ are from within the game near the ending, so blame the game designers/programmers for the abnormal spellings.

About the ending of [el], to quote the 1985 OVA Mugen
Chitai Megazone 23 (Part I) insert song "Tomorrow Blues" by Miyasato Kumi chan: "If you know there is no tomorrow,
I wonder what you will do?"

FYI, in Ecchi games, I dislike anal, bandage, bestiality, bondage, boys love/gay/Shouta/yaoi, Burikko, gakuen mono, kichiku, kyonyuu, Lolicom, Mah Jong, maid, nun, nurse, okama (except the Hokuto no Ken type), orgy, scatolo, slime, tentacles, and zombies.
(I know. Picky, picky.) "kyaa! chikan!"
"ORE ja nai! ORE ja nai! KABAN dayo, KABAN."
- Densha de Densha de GO! GO! GO! GO!
