To enable the cheat mode in the US-Version of the game:
Open the two files default.cfg and player.cfg with a normal editor and look for
"Developer" "0"
and change this to
"Developer" "1"
in both files. Now start the game and bind the cheats to a key in Setup/Keyboard.
(This procedure must be repeated any time you start a new game since the game
over writes the settings when you stop the game.)
Press [~] to enter the console and type in:
give [weapon ammo] [amount] Give ammo for selected weapon, where [weapon ammo]
