30/12 · Sacred 2: Fallen Angel delayed

Ascaron studios have announced that the launch date for the role playing game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel has been changed to September 2008.

This will allow the producer to make some final touches to the game.

17/12 · Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms announced

Ubisoft will release in the spring of the next year Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms, a new web based strategy game based on the Heroes of Might and Magic universe.

Players will rule over their own kingdom and will be able to create heroes and attack their opponents.

The most interesting thing about the game is that the only requirement is an Internet connection, players having the option to play in their own pace, in sessions ranging from 10 minutes to hours.

28/08 · Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare launch date announced

Infinity Ward studios have announced that the first-person shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be available in retail stores starting from the 5th of November, 2007.

The game will be released for PC and Xbox360.

10/08 · Bioshock is now Gold

Kevin Levine, the creative manager of Irrational Games, has confirmed through an email addressed to the Level Up website that their first-person shooter Bioshock is Gold and will be launched on the 21st of August, 2007.

09/08 · Sledgehammer announced

According to Buka Entertainment, Targem Games are currently working on a new driving-action game, called Sledgehammer. The players will be able to use a truck, which can be customized along the campaign with various weapons, armors, nitro's and other upgrades.

Up to eight players will be able to play the game in coop or deathmatch multiplayer modes.

09/08 · Hellgate: London announced

Electronic Arts & NAMCO BANDAI Games America have announced that the action role playing game titled Hellgate: London will be released on the 31st of October 2007 in USA and on the 2nd of November 2007 in Europe.

The game is currently developed by Flagship studios.

02/08 · Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come announced

Virgin PLAY studios have announced that they will launch a real time strategy game in November, titled Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come.

The game is currently in development at Neocore studios and its action will take place during the first Crusade, allowing players to reach known locations, such as Jerusalem and Constantinople.

02/08 · Second World Of Warcraft expansion to be named Wrath of the Lich King

According to MMO Gamer, the second expansion for the very popular MMORPG will be called World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.

More details will be revealed at the Games Convention 2007.

22/07 · Far Cry 2 announced

Ubisoft has announced that they will release Far Cry 2 in the spring of 2008.

Far Cry 2 will continue the first person shooter Far Cry and is developed by the Ubisoft studios located in Montreal.

The only detail known at this moment is that the game's action will take place in Africa. More details will be released on the October's edition of PC Gamer, which will be available starting with the 21st of August.

15/07 · STALKER: Clear Sky announced

GSC Gameworld studios have announced the launch of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky game in the first half of the next year.

The game will be a prequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and the action will take place before the one in the original game, when Zone is much more agitated because of a war between Stalker factions. Also, in this prequel, the anomalies will be much stronger, much more active, and the environment will be more responsive.

The players will be able to help one of the existing s.t.a.l.k.e.r. factions if they wish, in order to conquer important territories or destroy the other factions.

Valve has announced that a Steam update will remove the Starforce protection system for the arcade game Trackmania United

25/06 · Electronic Arts splits in four divisions

Electronic Arts has announced that it will split itself into four smaller groups, in order to manage themselves better.

The groups will be called EA Sports, EA Games, EA Casual Entertainment and The Sims. Each group will have their own development studios and publishing teams.

16/06 · Half-Life 2: Episode 2 launch date announced

Valve Software studios have announced that the second episode of the game will be launched on the 9th of Octomber.

The game package called Half-Life 2: Orange Box will contain Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and will have a price of $49.99.

08/06 · Worldshift announced

Black Sea studios have announced that they're working on a new real time strategy game called Worldshift.

The game action will take place thousands of years after the human civilization is destroyed by a strange meteorite named Shard Zero.

Some notable features of Worldshift are randomly generated maps, three playable rases and thousands of objects that will replace the classic technology trees.

28/05 · Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare announced

Activision has officially announced the launch of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare this autumn. The first person shooter, currently in development at Infinity Ward studios, will be available on PC, Xbox360 and Playstation 3.

Unlike the previous games in the series, the action of Call of Duty 4 will be in the current times: gamers will be able to play using modern weapons.

The game will have lots of technological improvements such as field depth, rim-lightning, self-shadowing and texture streaming.

22/05 · Starcraft 2 officially announced

Blizzard has officially announced Starcraft 2, during an event in Seul,South Koreea.

The game will continue the action of the first Starcraft game, the most successful real time strategy of all times.

Starcraft 2 will have the same three races, Protoss, Zerg and Terran, and with the help of a modern 3D engine, will offer improved abbilities to the new units.

The game will be launched this year at the same time for PC and Macintosh

20/05 · Age of Empires 3: The Asian Dynasties announced

Microsoft Game Studios has announced that Ensemble and Big Huge Games studios will collaborate in order to bring to life the second expansion package for the real time strategy Age of Empires 3.

The expansion game will be called The Asian Dynasties and will be launched in this autumn, introducing new civilizations, better randomized maps, new gameplay elements and over 15 asian wonders.

15/05 · Shadowrun is now Gold

Microsoft Game Studios have announced that their multi-platform, first person shooter is Gold and will be available in retail stores across US from the 29th of May.

The game will be priced at $49.99 (PC version) or $59.99 (Xbox 360 version).

15/05 · Spore delayed

Electronic Arts has announced in a conference dedicated to its financial results that it will delay the launch of the life-sim called Spore until March, 2008. This date marks the end of the current fiscal year.

06/05 · Fallout 3 Teaser Released

Bethesda Softworks have launched the official forums for Fallout 3 and at the same time released a teaser on the game's homepage.

The Fallout 3 teaser is a concept art, plus the names of the tracks that will accompany the game:

"We've updated the Fallout site with a countdown to the release of the Fallout 3 teaser trailer. On the site you'll find concept art we created in conjunction with noted concept artist Craig Mullins, as well as a streaming version of the Fallout 3 title track. We hope you like it."

27/04 · Tom Clancy's EndWar announced

The Shanghai studios of Ubisoft are currently working on a new episode in the Tom Clancy series called EndWar.

Unlike Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell, the game will be a real-time strategy which takes place on real locations around the world during the third world war.

EndWar will be released at the end of August 2008 on the latest game consoles.

14/04 · Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer announced

Obsidian Entertainment studios are currently working on the first add-on for the role playing game Neverwinter Nights 2, called Mask of the Betrayer.

The add-on will offer players a new single-player campaign, improve modding tools, new races, new feats, prestige classes, ammunition types, weapons, armors,crafting options and lots of other things.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer will be launched in the autumn of this year

Valve Software has announced that the first person shooter Arx Fatalis, developed by Arkane Studios, can be purchased online through Steam. Players buying this game before the 10th of April will get a 20% discount.

Disney Interactive studios have announced that Eurocom Entertainment Software are working on a game inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, called Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The action game will be available in retail stores on the 22nd of May.

EA Los Angeles studios have announced that Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars is Gold and will be launched on the 30th of March.

THQ has announced that the first person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Cernobyl is Gold and will be launched on the 20th of March.

2KGames has announced that the FPS and RPG combination Bioshock will be available in stores starting from the 21st of August.

Atari has announced that their action-RPG Silverfall developed by Monte Cristo studios is Gold and will be available in retail shops in US starting from the 20th of March.The price is estimated at $39.95.

11/02 · Half-Life 2: Episode Two delayed again

Half-Life 2: Episode Two was once again delayed by Valve, it will be launched this autumn. The game will appear in two retail versions.

Take 2 Games studios have announced that the PC version of the action-RPG Jade Empire is Gold and will be launched on the 27th of February in the United States of America and on the 2nd of March in Europe.

07/02 · The Two Worlds will have MMORPG Mod

Zuxxez Entertainment has announced that their RPG called The Two Worlds - currently developed by Reality Pump studios - will have a modification that will convert the game into a MMORPG.The cities inside the game will act like gathering locations for the online players, which will be able to find this way partners for their quests. The players will be able to form groups of up to 8 and use their numeric superiority to obtain difficult quests. The Two Worlds will be launched on the 9th of May, 2007.

Ubisoft has announced that they're currently working on Cosmic Family, a game created for kids.

The game will be launched in the second half of this year and will contain small games that will help kids discover the five parts of a rocket, which will than be used to learn kids how to fly it, discover the stars, create and draw fantastic images and lots of other nice things.

THQ and GSC Gameworld studios have started the count down timer on the official S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: The Shadow of Cernobyl site.

The much expected first person shooter will be launched on the 22nd of March, 2007.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that World of Warcraft, its subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), is now played by more than 8 million gamers worldwide.

According to the studio, there are over 2 million players in North America, over 1.5 million players in Europe and more than 3.5 million players in China.
